ABOUT THE PROJECT

Cycling 1000 km in 7 days, The Anders-Mader Duo depart from the controversial Serbian-Hungarian border fence and make their way across several EU countries to Berlin, following one of the routes traveled by those fleeing their homes. Riding in solidarity and exploring the concept of borders, they open a dialogue along this route, collecting people's stories and exploring the ways in which humans come together in these kinds of crises.

They share their journey through this short documentary, a photo exhibition/presentation series, and their blog (andersmaderduo.wordpress.com/trip-3-2015-cycling-for-refugees-hungarian-border-fence-to-berlin/).

*This 7-day bike marathon was also a fundraiser for “Give Something Back to Berlin”: a project platform and network that makes social engagement and neighbourhood work accessible to the large migrant population of Berlin (givesomethingbacktoberlin.com).
